He's fast, he's French, he's never on the bench......N'Zogbia, N'Zogbia !

Heskey scoring against his old club, Stead finally finding the net again, and new loan signing N'Zogbia scoring on his debut. A good week all round.

Bring on the next round Very Happy ....................(as long as it's some other no-mark team I can beat !!)

A good 2-0 win against Kiddy Harriers who've done quite well so far in the prem2, gave the squad players a run out and Yobo had his first game back from injury, my new signing Diego Tristan also fired home the first 2 goals of his career at Upton Park and immediately started to pay back his club record fee, what else can i say, well chuffed ! Bring on the Saints !

Second win in a fortnight against Forest, and pleased to see Kevin Doyle with a brace. Hope Reading's promotion sees him get in the spotlight next year.

Owls out on a limb

West Bromwich Albion showed the Champions League newboys at Sheffield just why it is they are sitting pretty at the top of the Prem 2 league table. A capacity crowd almost saw the Premiership outfit bow out of the F.A. Cup at the first time of asking, and Fallows has a rare goal from young striker Jon Shaw to thank for sparing his blushes.

The visitors silenced the home fans on 9 minutes when a wicked inswinging corner from that man Ikedia allowed veteran Les Ferdinand to get up above Robert Kovac and Chris Stringer to force the ball home at the near post. Half header, half shoulder, but they all count. Apart from a speculative lob from Callaghan which landed on the top of Albion's net, rather than in it, the Baggies never looked under any pressure for the remainder of the first half.

Sheffield's inspirational captain, Ivica Banovic, was making only his second appearance of the season, this being his first outing for 10 weeks after a broken foot on the opening day of the season, and it was obvious that he was off the pace of the game. Things began to turn around for the Yorkshire side once the Croatian had been replaced after a good 70 minute run-out by the fitter and fresher legs of John Welsh in central midfield.

Although both Sheffield strikers had been acceptable but not brilliant up to this point, Fallows chose to swap the experienced Klose for his fellow countryman Lauth, and leave their 4th choice striker, 22 year old Shaw, on for the full 90 minutes. A collective sucking of teeth and general grumbling from the crowd greeted the substitution, but the manager was totally vindicated when both Lauth and Shaw found the net in the dying stages.

A Shaw shot on 72 minutes wrongfooted the Albion 'keeper who could only palm the ball into the path of Lauth, who slotted home. And ten minutes later the local lad, and graduate of Sheffield's Academy, got his just reward when a Callaghan nudge-and-run into the box culminated with a sweet square pass and a shot tucked inside the near post from 12 yards.

"It's the early round of the Cup, and it is always a good opportunity to give some of the younger lads 90 minutes in the first team. I am happy to say that Shaw, Callaghan and Quinny did not let me down. If anything, it was the more experienced lads in the side who seemed to still have their heads in the clouds after our Champions League exploits. Still, no damage done, and no-one needs to get shouted at !"

Heskey ignores old pals act

"With the wealth of talent that 'Boro have at their disposal, I have no idea why they are struggling like they are. Okay, we have taken what used to be the jewel in their crown, Big Em, but they still have a team that should be gracing the Premiership. Having said that, there is no room for sentimentality in football, and we would be mad if we didn't take the opportunity to kick them when whilst they are down," Jake Fallows told reporters after his team's easy win to take them through to the next round of the F.A. Cup.

A nearly full house braved the dreary Huddersfield drizzle to see their new loan signing, Charles N'Zogbia, make his debut, and to find out why the French media have been getting uncharacteristically over-excited about the precocious midfielder. They got their money's worth, however, as the Caen winger put in a splendid performance, and even notched up a debut goal with a simple tap in from 6 yards. Huddersfield's passing and possession dominance in midfield put a woeful 'Boro to the sword.

Doesn't it always happen, that an ex always scores against his previous employers ? Once again the bookies lost a packet on "Heskey to score first" bets, as the big striker rose higher than his marker to knock the ball past Schwarzer in the 43rd minute. A Stead shot from the edge of the box, which went in under the outstretched arm of Schwarzer [he won't be please with that !], and the late N'Zogbia tap-in made the game safe before the home side visible eased off the gas, allowing Viduka to grab a consolation goal when he headed in a Carioca cross from a tight angle.

"I am just glad of the opportunity to play regular first team football," N'Zogbia told the Huddersfield Examiner, "and having target-men of the calibre of Emile and Steady certainly helped to make my crossing look better than it was today !" he added. "I didn't think much of the training ground initiation though, when they made me eat tripe and onions. I know that, being French, I've eaten some pretty gross things in the past, but that was beyond the pale !"

'Our game against Man City was very important for the clubs supporters as it is probably the only team we will meet our local rivals this season'.

'We fielded a strong side because we wanted to make sure we got the job done first time around'.

'They made it hard for us in the dying stages with the late Hartson goal, but the two goals we scored in the game made it too hard for them' Oliver was quoted saying.

Oddo put in a noteable performance, his surging run forward in the 22 minute caught the Man City players of guard and the resulting cross was knocked down by Kuijt and smashed into the back of the net by Duff.

Uniteds second came from a freekick, Lee Carlsley was adjudged to have fouled Alonso on the edge of the area and Juniho scored from the resulting freekick.

'Duff is on quite a run of scoring, but I am glad Juninho could join him he absolutely deadly from set pieces and we had been doing extra work on that in training so its good to see it paying dividends'

Hartson made the ending a bit more nervous for United as he muscled his way on to a through ball from Anderton before slotting passed Robinson on 80 minutes, but in the end it was too little - too late.
